James E. Maddox Jr., 80, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord January 4th., 2003.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother,

James E. Maddox, Sr. and Janie C. Maddox. He was

also predeceased by his brother Wilson Maddox and

sister Birdie Meeks. He was a retired owner of Mark's

Cycle Sales. He attended Washington Heights Grace

Brethren Church. He was a devoted husband and father.

He loved his dog Rusty, NASCAR and Wrestling. He will

be deeply missed by all who loved him. He is survived

by his beloved wife of 58 years, Emma Kathleen Maddox;

daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Bruce Murphy; son,

James Emmett Maddox, III and wife Pam, son, Mark

Steven Maddox and wife Robin; five grandchildren,

Kevin S. Smith, Eric Maddox, Sara, Melissa and Jimmy

Maddox; two great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Darby

Smith; a sister, Elsie Wood and brother, Randolph

Maddox, both of Lynchburg.
