UPDATE FROM MARCIA MONTENEGRO:
(Posted 2/1/2006)
Dear Prayer Partners: I hope all of you know how much I appreciate your
prayers and emails. It has really helped me through all this moving
stuff to know you have been praying!
REPORT:
1. As you well know, I've been going back and forth between a studio and
1bdrm, but they had me down for a 1 bdrm as I requested, since the only
studios available were smaller than the one studio I was interested in
(and had not seen). The smaller studios only had 2 windows, the larger
one has 3. I called on Jan. 16th and all the studios are gone except for
that larger one that is still occupied. The tenants keep changing their
move-out date (because apparently they are moving into a house and
things keep changing). The apt. manager lets them do that because they
have been good tenants. I could not have rented the other studios
because I would have had to move sooner than I was able to, so that left
this 1 studio still occupied and several unrented 1 bdrms.
I felt this was the Lord letting me know to get the 1 bdrm. I don't like
the fact the people keep changing their move-out date while I need to
make plans and notify my apt. It's just too up in the air, and there is
even the possibility that they would not move out if their house thing
fell through. It seemed very unpredictable. Or they might have decided
to stay even longer and I would have lost my chance at the special price
on other places (the apts. are no longer offering the lower prices to
anyone who comes now to look). So I either had to wait and see when
these people moved out of the studio, or go ahead and decide on a 1
bedroom that I liked and could go at any moment, as they were trying to
get it rented by Feb. 1st.
The one-bdrm that I saw and really liked was still available, so I
switched to that one (instead of one on the 7th floor that I have not
seen yet and which they had me down for).
I switched to this 1 bdrm because it's larger than most of their 1 bdrms
because it's on a corner (another plus!). It's on the 4th floor; I lose
the view of the 1 bdrm on the 7th floor but that one looked over the
pool, which would be noisy in the summer and is not an advantage to me
since I work at home. This one is by a tree, has a walk-in closet (the
other 1 bdrm does not), a larger bathroom with a window, and more
closets. Yet it's the same price, and I get it at the special price,
which is $1 cheaper per month than what their normal rent is for
studios!
So now I will be renting the apt. starting Feb. 5 (they wanted it rented
by the 1st but are willing to give me until the 5th). I have a trip to
NC Feb 3-5 and will not be able to move in on the 5th, but I will move
in on the 8th.I am so grateful for your prayers and for the Lord's
provision and guidance.
2. Geoffrey has looked at two places and really wanted one of them, but
at the last minute, one of the housemate's friends needed and place, so
that person got it. If Geoffrey does not find a place by the time we
move, then he would stay with me while he looks (and his stuff would go
in storage).
Please pray for Geoffrey to find an affordable place in a decent house
near a bus line or Metro station in the Arlington or near-Arlington
area.
3. My mailing address will still be my post office. My new phone no. as
of Feb. 8th will be 703-933-8884. I will be somewhat out of touch from
Feb. 3 until Feb. 9 since my trip to NC and the move are pretty much one
after another in that time slot so if you email or call me during or
around that time, don't worry if I don't get back to you for a few days.
4. Radio taping, Jan. 20th: The taping went well. There was a small
glitch where I was not plugging my phone in right (I use a lighter,
smaller phone for radio shows since it's easier to hold and usually hook
it up to the phone line that I take out of my computer, but I was very
spacey from cold medication and did it wrong! I actually plugged the
phone into the computer by mistake!), so I just used my regular phone.
Part one will air on the Philadelphia station on Jan 24th at 3 pm and
part two on Jan 31st at 3 pm. They now have a station in Allentown but I
can't recall when.
5. I may not respond to emails as quickly over the next few weeks with
what is coming up this weekend and the trip the first weekend of Feb.
right before my move.
SPECIAL NEWS
A publishing arm of Christian publisher Thomas Nelson, the W Publishing
Group, is coming out with this book: Yoga for Christians : A
Christ-Centered Approach to Physical and Spiritual Health through Yoga
(Paperback) by Susan Bordenkircher. I cannot put into words how heavy
this makes my heart feel. I can only exhale a deep sigh. I need to look
into the book at some point so I can see exactly what she is teaching,
but for one thing, I do not understand how "spiritual health" can come
from yoga. Yoga is a spiritual
system: it was founded that way; it is an integral part of Hindu
beliefs; it has never been a mere physical exercise; if you take away
the basic components of yoga such as the breathing techniques, the
meditative poses, and the asanas, then it is no longer yoga.
PRAYER REQUESTS
1. GWCEA, Jan 28th: For the 4 workshops I will be doing this Saturday,
Jan. 28th. I am blessed that two prayer partners are going with me to
assist me in the workshops. Please pray for their good health and
stamina as well as for mine for this all-day, intense event.
2. For packing and getting things sorted out and arranged for the move.
3. For Geoffrey's application for the promotion - he did receive a call
that he made the first cut for interviews, but the interviews don't
begin until March!
4. For Geoffrey to find a good housing situation.
5. For good health. I've had some kind of cold that made me feel
run-down with little appetite, and now my throat is bothering me. Please
pray for recovery and good health over the next few weeks especially.
6. SE Baptist Seminary, Wake Forest, NC, Feb. 3-4: For upcoming
conference at Southeastern Baptist Seminary where I will do 2 workshops
on Wicca. I will probably drive back the 5th.
By His grace,
Marcia
